Meera is a very professional designer with great communication and attitude. Our initial design proposal went through multiple revisions in over 6 months, and Meera was very flexible working with my family as we went through various ideas real time. Meera is very knowledgeable and has more than 20 years of experience working with multiple cities in the Bay Area. She has good idea of the city requirements, and as we came across specific issues, she worked closely with the city planning department to get timely response. Meera is very responsive and would typically answer any questions we had within the same day or next day. She came up with good ideas, especially related to bathroom design and how to leverage existing layout for the addition and minimizing unnecessary restructuring of framing, roofing etc as much as possible. We connected with Meera for our remodel project. We wanted to get an additional bedroom and bathroom on the first floor. So we thought of converting our existing family room into the bedroom/bathroom and adding a family room of about 300 sqft in the space between the previous family room and kitchen (which was connected by a long corridor). One issue that we were concerned with was an oak tree that was close to the house in Los Gatos. On Meera’s advice, we dug up a portion of the lawn and made sure that there were no roots coming through in that portion of the land. She also advised us to figure out the existing foundation and many such details, which really helped in getting informed quotes from the contractors. She worked very closely with us with numerous floorplans and helped us decide between various options. She also connected with a good engineering firm and with the Title 24 report. She knows the overall process very well. She was always very responsive and she completed her work on time.
After we submitted the permit to the Los Gatos office, she was very pro-active and connected with many in the office to resolve all the issues. We got through the permit process fairly quickly, we have found that this process can take a much longer time. Meera’s quick and comprehensive responses were very important to get through this somewhat nerve-racking process. She now knows the Los Gatos permit process very well. Even after the permit process, Meera kept in touch periodically with us.
During a later part of the construction, we wanted to make a change and she offered very good advice and support to us. The construction was completed in August about a year after we first started. We were very happy with Meera’s work and recommend her anyone looking for an architect – note we have already recommended her to many of our friends in the area.

When we initially started our project with Meera, it was not very extensive but as we began working on it, she came up with many ideas that we liked and wanted to incorporate in our remodel.

Our remodel project involved adding ~320 sq feet to the front of our current home. We had a lot of extra unused space infront of our house and our hope was to to add a formal living room and a new entry area so that the current living room could be used as a kids play area and media room. Additionally, our expectation was for the house to look more modern. Since it was was our first addition/remodel project, we had a lot of questions about the process like time to completion, estimated costs, permitting requirements etc. Meera came highly recommended to us by an acquaintance who had worked with her in the past. During our first meeting with Meera, she listened to and noted our requirements, explained the whole process to use and patiently answered all our questions. We were impressed with Meera after our first meeting and decided to go with her. Prior to signing the contracts, we had some permitting related questions based on our first meeting. Meera promptly followed up with the city to give us the responses that helped us with the scope of the project.
After we signed our contract, Meera got to work right away asking us detailed questions on how we envision using the new space. Within a few days of signing the contract, she provided us the original floorplan and the first pass on the new design.Over the next few weeks, she patiently worked with us giving us multiple design options, getting our feedback as well as advising us what may or may not work for our project. Once the design was finalized, she helped co-ordinate communication with the structural engineer and getting other documents ready for the permit application. Finally, she cross checked the permit application, making sure at all times that we don’t feel rushed. We had heard of stories of permit applications taking weeks to be approved and of revisions requested by the city. In our case, thanks to Meera’s detailed preparation, our permit was approved by the city over the counter within an hour. Even after the permit application was approved ( which concluded the scope of Meera’s services), she kept in touch with us through the constructions phase, advising us, discussing any open issues with the contractor, even visiting the site to make sure the construction was going as designed. She went above and beyond to make sure that this whole experience was less stressful. Overall, we are extremely happy with our decision to hire Meera for our project and would hire her for any future projects in a heartbeat.

We learned about Meera through an online source and we couldn’t be more pleased with our experience so far. My husband and I plan to expand our home because we have five growing children. We currently occupy a 3 bedroom, 2 bath 1,100 sq ft home. Ideally, we’d like to add one or two more bedrooms and one full bath. We know what we want but we don’t have experience dealing with the city requirements and limitations. Meera has been able to do the research on this and advise us.
